Edwin's Obituary

BLUE BELL, Pa. - A memorial service for Edwin D. Roll, 91, of Blue Bell, a former New Jersey resident and bank vice president, will be held at a later date. Arrangements will be handled by the Longenecker Funeral Home, North Wales.

Mr. Roll died Tuesday in the Medical Facility of Normandy Farms Estates, Blue Bell.

He was a senior vice president for Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank, New York City, before retiring in 1972. Previously, he was assistant vice president of the J.P. Morgan & Co., New York Trust Co., New York City.

Mr. Roll was a trustee of the Dodge Memorial Fund, the Bankers Club of America and the New York Society of Security Analysts.

He graduated in 1929 from Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y., where he was captain of the track team. He set the record for the 440 yard run as a sophomore and was anchor man on the mile relay, winning major races at the Penn Relays and the Ohio Relays.

Mr. Roll was an academic major and member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon and the Scull and Scroll of Colgate University.

He served on the Board of Trustees of Colgate University for 12 years as its financial officer.

Mr. Roll was awarded the Maroon Citation in 1963 and the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service in 1973 and in 1991 was inducted into Colgate University's Athletics Hall of Honor.

He served in the Navy during World War II as a lieutenant commander.

Born in Newark, he lived in South Orange, N.J., before moving to Pennsylvania many years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Mary K.; a son, Walter E., and two grandchildren.
